Character Info: Character Wiki link
Personality: All that come under her care are her guests and her friends, the law of hospitality and friendship taking priority above all, no enemies to be made under her roof. That is Yukine Miyazawa’s philosophy.

As a gentle soul, Yukine believes in allowing anybody coming under her room to be granted comfort from the troubles of the world, even if they become recurrent guests. This is in fact something Yukine cherishes, as it is company, and in the end, she believes most people can be made friends through companionship. This is her way of earning peoples’ affections, even on both sides of the fence, to serve as a neutral party for others whenever needed.

This is all born from the experiences she went through when her brother, Kazuto Miyazawa, turned to the gang life and involved himself, to try to obtain a life neither of them found for a time with their parents. This was something acquired by experience, as Yukine herself admits to have been frightened at first with the sort of company Kazuto got with, but as she mentions, ‘she gathered her courage and got close to everyone’. And slowly, they let her into their group.

Given the kind of people Yukine has been around with, she has learned to judge people not by appearances, but by actions, managing to remain calm and without judging even in places that would frighten others, as she’s become entirely familiarized with the more troubled areas of Hikarizaka. She considers herself lucky to know people. And this is something she will eternally be grateful to her brother for.

Due to this, from the things she learned from both the troubles her family used to have, and the many people she met and befriended during her brother’s time in the gangs, she understands why do some peoples do not get along with their parents, and seeking for a replacement for the companionship and family they need, go to gangs to fill the void that forms with it. Right now, she is on good terms with her parents, in spite of everything, and in fact took everything as a learning experience to become a better person and help the world.

Most especially, she loves and misses her brother Kazuto, even muttering his name in her sleep, and wishes to uphold his ideals of ending the gang fights altogether, something perhaps the result of the two of them becoming tired of a life of fighting. Much like him, Yukine hates having people fight, feeling especially horrible when others become hurt because of her, and wishes it was not a solution, and tries to stop fights whenever possible. She wishes she could do that with ease, defusing all fights and conflicts before they happen.

Meeting the gang members of not only her brother’s side, but that of the other side as she vowed to help anyone coming to her reference room, no matter their allegiances, it helped her realize that people can be naturally good: They love, they have friendships, they have fun, they have people they are completely loyal to, they have their own moral lines.

She sees goodness in others, and believes they can be so when everybody is happy, probably adopting principles of Vipassana meditation philosophy, which believes that a pure mind is full of love, and that only with it is peace attainable. With this, she understands the bonds of family and loved ones, and uses them for peace.

Yukine is a social person, and her time in the reference room served as a way to both allow any people to come in easily or covertly, and to serve them in any way possible. Thanks to this, she is well-read, versed in first-aid, cooking, counseling, rituals magic and non-magical, and even the local folklore of the town. With her tending the library, Yukine had more than enough time to become literate in many matters, especially the practical ones.

Unfortunately, Yukine is also prone to help until she tires to the point of exhaustion. It goes to such lengths of desperation such as keeping secrets until it can literally hurt her, or coming to the enemy’s side to try to talk reason into them. Even acting independently, even to her own pain, even if it reaches the limits of what should be done. Even fighting in somebody else’s stead when the desperation over stopping a fight reaches its breaking point on her.

She wonders why everyone else fights, when all it does is bring suffering.

Peace is something her brother wanted on the last days of his life. In this way, Yukine wishes to uphold what he wanted to avoid. A way to end the fighting.

Abilities: Yukine Miyazawa is a quite intelligent girl that has become almost a homekeeper, capable of multiple tasks thanks to both having a literal library at her disposal from which she read both legal and confiscated materials, and practice with the people she would often have as guests in her time as the two gangs’ ‘Big Sister’. With even a stove and a television in the reference room, Yukine is said to be a really good cook, granting a meal, tea, and coffee to anyone willing to become a guest for her, learning everything she had been able to learn from her time in there, able to make impromptu meals for anyone coming in.

Due to her experiences, Yukine knows how to nurse people from both first-aid manuals she had at her reach, and constant practice with the gang members that would come to the reference room, seeking for her safety and help, able to mend many sorts of wounds.

She also uses plenty of spells, horoscopes, rituals, and charms from the numerous books and magazines she has confiscated, and has even taught them to a lot of people. At first glance, they look like superstitious tales and instructions, but due to the laws of magical realism of Clannad, all of them end up working in one way or another – sometimes too well, if it’s a romantic ritual.

Other than that, Yukine Miyazawa is a normal human, without any noticeable benefits, lacking even the strength to actually fight, instead being more versed in making her guests feel calm, and befriend anyone whenever possible, eliminating any barriers and any factions whenever possible.

CARNIVAL
Soul Colour: Light brown, akin to her hair.
Ideal Jobs: Line Cook, Nurse, Concessions, Magician (more as a magic tent for appointments in this regard).
Relevant Experience: Thanks to getting to know both sides of the fence, Yukine Miyazawa would offer food, tea, coffee, health, comfort, and shelter to anyone that would come to her at the reference room of the library of Hikarizaka Private High School, mending their wounds, or simply cook something for her guests. She is noted to be an excellent cook, having even a small stove in the reference room, where she prepares meals for her guests. Additionally, and this is a minor ability of hers gained to the books she’s read, and due to Clannad being a world of magical realism, Yukine has a very minor array of spells and charms meant for love. Due to tending gangsters entering incognito into the reference room, it is possible she may know how to sew things back together as well.

In essence, Yukine is a polymath of a host, able to do multiple things at once for anyone under her care, able to manage a kitchen, a counseling room, a spell hut, and a nursery, all in one.

Reason for Joining: Even after the gangs of Hikarizaka agreed into a peace treaty, achieved only by the mutual grief and understanding of both sides of what her brother had always wanted, Yukine realized how hard was it for people to actually stop fighting.

For the time that remained for her in Hikarizaka Private High School, Yukine continued to help students and gang members that came by to simply keep in touch, days which were heavenly for her with the end of the gang war. However, she understood that the future would continue to have problems. If not with the gangs, it would be something else. People she would have to protect from the same violence she witnessed in Hikarizaka.

Yukine hoped that love, and mutual grief, would be able to turn even the biggest enemies into families. But she found another way to continue helping others when the Lost Carnival arrived.

The offers were unimaginable. Visiting worlds beyond anything she had ever seen, meeting and helping people from hundreds of universes, even learn stronger kinds of magic than the things she would use back at the reference room. Most of all, there was the possibility of learning how to defuse any conflict through magic, more powerful than the rituals she would learn from her books.

The cost of it was one year and a day under the Ringleader’s duty. But if she were to reject it… would she have ever seen the Carnival again? Would that offer even come to repeat itself? And amidst the memories of the day she had to tell the truth about her brother’s death, would there be another time in which she would have to stop people from fighting? Yukine asked herself these questions.

In the end, she offered herself as a recruit for the carnival, in exchange of learning all the white magic she could learn and use to help others, especially in the ways of defusing conflict and calming others down. This way, she would continue to help anyone without a home through the Carnival, and become even more capable of achieving peace, knowing the offer would not come again.

Yukine's contract of a year-and-a-day began, and Yukine Miyazawa readied for the journey of her life.

Sample Starter:

Yukine became honesty concerned the moment she saw the fresh bread glow with a rainbow color.

“This wasn’t what I expected...” Checking the dimensional cookbook, she wondered if she had committed a serious mistake, as she actually had a decent sense on the sort of additions necessary to bake and cook, but what was more concerning about the recipe was that it was supposed to be accompanied with a jam recipe that glowed a strong yellow. There -was- a world that ate that sort of bread, a recipe that Yukine had in fact followed to the letter, and she didn’t know if she should even tell the mother of Nagisa Furukawa about it. The consequences would be disastrous.

The book was clear in its instructions she followed once again. There were creatures with the metabolism capable of consuming them, even seeing them as delicacies. That Nagisa’s mother was able to reproduce it with only Earth ingredients was nothing short of a superhuman feat, which meant Yukine would have to lock the bread trays into a timelock-spell of sorts until they reached the world.

She turned to the tray, “I better clean this before anyone--”

The most terrifying thing of all? They were now missing. She turned her sight to the outside of her tent to see the rainbow glow being carried away. When Yukine ran outside, she realized they were gone! Having nothing to go by but seeing prismatic glows above the tents, Yukine ran around, trying to stop people before they were poisoned! Or worse, transformed!

“Please wait! That bread was not meant for consumption! You don’t want to know who eats it!”
